chatter showing up on an otherwise stable setup

This feels like one of those end-of-year problems. Same parts, same program, same tooling I’ve trusted all year, but December parts are coming out with a hint of chatter that wasn’t there before.

Nothing’s out of spec, just not as clean as I’m used to. Shop temperature is the only variable that really changed, which makes me think winter is quietly affecting rigidity more than I expected.

Curious if others see similar finish changes in colder months, or if this is just my reminder to revisit the setup.

Cold months always make me recheck the basics. Warm up time, tool holders, and even stock temp seem to matter more when everything’s cold.

I’ve noticed colder shops change how machines settle, especially early in the day. Letting things warm up longer and rechecking tool stick-out helped more than tweaking feeds right away.

If tolerances are fine but finish got noisy, I’d bet on something slightly looser, not the program. Did anything change in stock lot, coolant concentration, or how long the machine sits cold before you run that job?
