December has been a bit rough on my CNC setup. One day the shop feels fine, the next it’s noticeably colder, and I’ve started seeing small tolerance shifts that weren’t there before. Nothing drastic, but enough to make me double check parts that normally come out consistent.
I’m running a small CNC in a garage shop and I’m starting to suspect temperature swings are part of the problem. I’ve seen people mention enclosure heaters or keeping the machine warm between runs, but I’ve never tried that myself.
For those machining through winter, have enclosure heaters actually helped keep tolerances more stable, or is there another approach that works better for you?
