There is a u tube video by clough 42 on converting a lathe to an electronic lead screw. He uses a servo motor but he has the calculations for micro processor settings. It is fairly detailed. But since you already have a CNC set up making changes might be risky since once the parameters are set it is almost like writing it in stone. Because the cnc machine is set up for the physical mechanics of your system. Changing a parameter will change its response. So I would recommend you get to the manufacture of your cnc. There is no way to calibrate that movement. If you want to check the distance set up a dial indicator and simply measure it. Now it is possible a mechanical feature may need maintenance but calibrating it will be difficult. And it may be possible to increase the precision but it will probably require a software update or hardware change from maker of the lathe. Here is a video you can look at to see what goes into that software. Good luck with your project.Hi, I am trying to calibrate my cnc lathe. But can someone please give me the calculation for revolutions of the motor to 25mm of movement. Thanks.
