Not every improvement comes from a big upgrade. Sometimes it is a small change that quietly makes the day smoother, the work quicker, and you only realize its value after living with it for a while.

Looking back on this year, what small change improved your day-to-day machining more than you expected? Could be a setup habit, organization tweak, checklist step, or something you now do without thinking.

Slowing down on setup. Spending a few extra minutes dialing things in upfront saved way more time than I expected over the course of the year.

A small change that helped my machining more than I expected was slowing down for a consistent warm up and quick check before cutting anything important. Like I do a short “sanity pass” on scrap or air cut where possible just to confirm offsets and direction are what I think they are. It sounds basic but it saved me from the dumb mistakes that cost the most time.
