Best CAM for your work, what made the decision clear?

Let’s compare Fusion 360, Mastercam, and SolidCAM in real shop terms, not marketing terms. Each one can get parts made, but the day to day experience can be totally different depending on whether you are doing prototypes, production, 3D work, or multi-op setups.

If you had to explain your CAM choice to someone deciding in 2026, what would you say is the biggest difference that actually matters? Also, what’s the one thing that frustrates you about your current CAM, even if you still prefer it overall? Those tradeoffs are usually what help people pick the right tool.

I’m still learning this one too, but the “decision clear” moment for me was realizing workflow matters more than features. Like how fast you can go from model to toolpath to post to a safe first cut.

For hobby and small jobs, is Fusion 360 usually the easiest on the wallet and brain, or do people outgrow it fast? I’m curious what made someone switch to Mastercam or SolidCAM and never look back.

I work with ZW3D.Is a cad/cam software affordable and it s very similar with fusion 360.You can make programs for almost any cnc.Im curently make programs for haas vf1,haas umc 750,correa 426,kafo.You can do many things with this software but i use just for this.
