Expanding the business and improving the practice are two different things. However, if you look at it from work flow management and with some care you might be able to use your machines more effectively. And by doing that process it allows for more work to be accepted. Not easy to do this as it requires constant evaluation of what work load is available. This activity is just part of the job and you should be doing that anyway. The other criteria is quality control and is a whole subject in itself. You have to decide what methods and how much effort you put in to it. There will be two considerations, one your what your customer requires and two what you need to do to satisfy customers who do not give you quality requirements. Now to get the most out of people who may know what you are looking for I think you should very specifically define what problem or issue you want to solve. Somewhere somebody has probably been through the very problem you want solved and can give more specific advice. I have found there is always somebody sitting on information that can help you just have to hunt for them. And this is a good place to do that.
