I'm having a problem with my Fanuc 10M machine. I keep getting an "EMPTY POT NOT FOUND" error and it won't let me use the machine at all.

I have tried everything I can think of to fix it, but nothing has worked so far. I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out.
Can you walk me through the steps to fix this error and has anyone here dealt with this same problem before? Thanks for the help!

Go to the tool/magazine setup. If you spot an empty slot, give it tool number 00. Do the same for the spindle if it's empty. Next, power cycle the machine to clear any errors.

Then, in maintenance mode, manually run the ATC through its paces: pot up/down, arm forward/reverse, and carousel rotate. After that, in MDI mode, try T01 M06 to force a tool change. If that doesn't work, use T00 M06 to reset the tool.

Some have found that a stretched alternator bracket mounting hole can mess with the tool changer alignment. If that's the case, swap out or reinforce the bracket and ensure the sensors are lined up right.

yeah, I've had that exact same error. usually, it's not a parameter. The machine has lost its position for the empty pot.
check the sensor that detects the tool carousel's home position. It's usually a proximity switch that's either dirty or out of alignment. Clean it off, and if that doesn't work, there's likely a manual procedure to reset the tool magazine position in your maintenance manual.

@jagers1224 Thanks! That worked! It seems assigning tool 00 to empty slots avoids confusion in the control. I will definitely keep this in mind. I thought that this was not an easy fix.

When you say “maintenance mode,” is that just the key switch or something deeper in the control? Also, for the alternator bracket, did you notice misalignment visually or only after running the ATC? Thanks!
