Restoring a Nisshinbo Turret Press

My coworker and I are hoping someone can give us a hand with a frustrating issue.

Our Nisshinbo HIQ1250 turret press lost power a few months ago, and it looks like it wiped all of its internal settings.
We have the manuals, but they don't say anything about how to restore the parameters.

The strange thing is, the machine still finds home and can run the single program that was saved in its communication memory, but we can't get it to accept any new programs or transfer anything via the RS232C port.
We've been looking for a recovery disk or a similar fix, but we've come up empty.

Has anyone dealt with this before? We would really appreciate any advice or direction on how to fix this. Thanks!

Oof, sorry to hear that! I'm afraid a recovery disk isn't a thing for most of these older machines. It also seems your machine is operating on a minimal set of factory default. Could you confirm this? The best solution I can suggest is to manually re-enter the full set of parameters. Check your manuals again, specifically for a parameter list, usually in an appendix. Look for tables with P-numbers and their values, paying special attention to the I/O parameters that govern the RS232C port. Other than that, maybe it would also help to contact Nisshinbo tech support? Good luck!

Turret presses, mostly the old models, need a parameter list or setup sheet that is given at the start, even if the manuals don't say so. These can be on paper, a floppy disk, or a PCMCIA card. Check with the people who set up or took care of the machine before, they might have kept these in the old files.

You need to restore the factory parameter set before the RS232 port will accept new programs. If you don’t have the recovery disk, sometimes the manufacturer can provide a parameter backup or a special boot procedure, maybe reach out to Nisshinbo support directly

I just started helping my uncle sort through his old shop and found a Wiedemann turret press in the corner. We did not see any setup sheets with it. If it’s on a PCMCIA card, do you know what kind of reader we’d need to pull the data? Also, were those sheets usually machine-specific or shared across models?
