Trying to fix my sleep schedule is not going well

I’ve been trying to fix my sleep schedule and I’m failing pretty hard. For some reason I keep waking up at 3 AM like it’s part of a routine I never agreed to. No alarms. No noise. Just my brain deciding it’s “cnc machining thoughts o’clock.”

Anyone else deal with this or is it just me fighting a losing battle with my own schedule? I’m starting to think the more I try to fix it, the more it refuses to cooperate.

Trying to force a sleep schedule back into place can backfire when your head is still in shop mode. Machining work builds habits around precision and repetition, and those patterns do not always shut off just because the day ended. It could help to shut down your workflow a little earlier with something low effort to reset your mind. Do you notice the 3 AM wakeups more on days you run long setups or on lighter days too?

This hits close to home. After the house finally goes quiet, my brain decides it’s time to solve shop problems. Waking up at 3 AM feels automatic now. Trying to force sleep just makes it worse for me.
