Anyone battled with fitting a 07 Haas vf-2ss through unconventional doors? The spindle dimensions pass, but that 24+1 smtc might need some adjusting. Curious to know how folks get creative with space saving techniques!

Yeah, squeezed a VF-2SS into a tight spot before spindle cleared fine, but the SMTC arm was the headache, so I ended up pulling the carousel off temporarily and rotated the head to minimize height. Some guys remove the tool changer altogether and reattach inside.

hi @froggy|situation now that you had to pull the carousel, it's a perfect time to do a little maintenance. Try to check the drawbar force while the head is exposed? Or perhaps clean and lightly lubricate the SMTC cam/actuator mechanism?
also, since you got it in so smoothly, a little preventative maintenance now will make that tool changer lightning fast

Yeah, I’ve got the head exposed now so I’ll check drawbar force and clean the cam before buttoning it up. I didn’t plan to go deep on maintenance during the move but since the carousel’s off, it’s a good window. Have you noticed any wear patterns on the actuator that are worth monitoring or is it typically just grime buildup?
