I’m getting frustrated with a repeat pattern in my programs. The part comes out fine at my “safe” feeds and speeds, but the moment I try to push it a bit, I get chatter and the finish goes ugly. It’s like the machine immediately tells me nope, not today. This happened to me yesterday on a simple pocketing op. I bumped the feed up just a little because everything sounded fine, and within a couple passes the tool started singing and the walls looked rougher. Dropped it back down and it calmed right down. So it feels like I’m stuck in this narrow window where it’s either slow and clean or faster and noisy. When you deal with this, do you usually solve it by changing the toolpath and engagement, or do you focus more on dialing in the numbers like RPM, feed, depth of cut, and step over?
