I’m still learning and I cannot tell which specs matter most when comparing a budget CNC to brands like Haas, Mazak, or Okuma. People talk about rigidity and control quality like they are obvious, but as a newbie I do not know how to translate that into day to day results. I mostly want to make accurate parts without constant drama, and I want to understand what I lose when the machine is cheaper.
This weekend I went down the rabbit hole reading reviews and I had a satisfying moment where it started to make sense that it is not one spec, it is the whole system. Then I got confused again because some people say a budget machine is fine if your expectations match, while others say you will outgrow it fast. If you were advising someone making typical aluminum parts and some mild steel, what matters most in the real world and where do budget machines usually start showing their limits?
