so i was thinking about making my own brass instead of buying it since scrap copper and old pennies are way cheaper than buying brass directly. i only need it for small castings so i figured i could just melt copper and add the right amount of zinc and get the alloy i want. is this a bad idea? or do people actually do this? also any cheap way to make bronze while i'm at it?

Instead of old pennies, you can get a recycled chopper to make a DIY brass. I think it's cheaper than buying old pennies
