alum to alum bonding, help?

alright everyone, so.... i'm diving into aluminum to aluminum bonding for a project and looking for the best method. Welding is the obvious choice, but for certain parts, I need a solid adhesive or mechanical bond instead. what epoxies or other adhesives hold up under stress? and also, would surface prep like etching or anodizing make a big difference?

not quite the expert on this, but wouldn't epoxy with proper surface preping do the job?
